Shoreham Bowl and Skatepark
June 23rd, 2010
Shoreham is a fresh new park on the south coast, just shy of Brighton. It’s another great example of wasted space being transformed into a great little skatepark. Much like Dorchester, it’s built on a kind of Junction Island but unlike Dorchester, they didn’t use all the space?
With that aside, they did a great job. The parks main feature is the Bowl – Regarded by most as one of the best (if not the best) in the country! It’s 100% authentic, specially made and very gnarly pool coping make it not for the faint hearted!

The Deep end of the three-leafed clover shape towers a daunting 10+ feet with a crudely named ‘Death Box’ fake pool filter box in the side. Even if you cower in the shallower side of the pool its still a whippy 6 foot of concreted carnage. Nether-the-less, with a little perseverance and balls of steel, you can carve this bowl quite gracefully, even keeping clear of the coping.

When you walk back down the ‘No Pegs’ stairs from the bowl, you end up in a much more forgiving street section with 2 hubba’s, a rail (flat and down), a euro-gap, hip and fun flat-bank to wall-ride section. It’s clear that more effort went into the bowl than anything else, but the little plaza section still has a lot to offer. Although being small, I would imagine it gets very crowded very quickly!

All in all – a fun park and definitely one to visit on any skate trip to the south coast. What is nice about this park is that it really has been designed for Skateboarders alone. Many parks around this area within about 40 minutes as well (Uckfield, Henfield, Cuckfield Bowl).
International Go Skateboarding Day 2010
June 18th, 2010
As you will remember from last year, we are pretty big on making the most of International Go Skateboarding Day. This year, the 21st falls on a Monday – perfect (as long as you can get it off work!).
So we are hoping to stumble accross a nice empty park somewhere and get some mad-shredding on the go.
Watch for the end of month edit for our IGSD experience. And to keep you keen, check out last years at Dorchester Skatepark
